I often find myself answering the question: "which camera would you recommend buying for my trip?"

An enigma that grips in particular the newlyweds ready for their honeymoon.

With the August holidays just around the corner, before receiving messages of this type I thought I'd give some clarification on the matter.

We are in the age of digital, smartphones and sharing. Above all about sharing!

We spend more time scrolling through the instagram home page than in the company of our loved ones.

We take more photographs than how many times we go to the bathroom in a day. Let's just think about how many selfies we take in a week or how many photos we send via whatsapp.

This is why the object that cannot be missing in a traveler's suitcase is a camera.

Especially during the honeymoon, such an important trip, which hopefully will be the only one in life. Who wouldn't have the new husband take a photo book in costume on the shore of a Polynesian beach?

Or raise your hand if you don't want to post the photo taken in a hammock on the water in the Maldives, with a cocktail in your hands, on your Instagram profile?

I would say that the question that is often asked to me is more than legitimate.

I have always shared the thought of the great H.C. Bresson: “To photograph is to put eye, mind and heart on the same level”. In fact, I consider the camera only a means. But above all to answer the question of many, I believe a large-scale reflex is not necessary for the honeymoon or for any type of trip. Cell phones today are capable of taking good quality photographs. They are also an accessory that you would still take with you and that certainly doesn't clutter up.

If you really want to buy a camera, what you need to evaluate is above all the lightness, the ease of use and the dimensions. In my opinion, fundamental parameters for those who do not use it frequently and will carry it in their backpack for a long time. Also consider the high cost, delicacy and care they require, so if you think you want to leave the bag under the umbrella or on the sand, I do not recommend buying a reflex.

Una GoPro A GoPro could be for you. Small, waterproof and not damaged by the sea, it also generates both photo and video files of excellent quality. If you plan to choose an itinerant trip, it guarantees lightness and space-saving.

But remember that the best treasure chest to keep a memory is the mind and heart, so enjoy the journey and then take some photos.
